Māori and an Evolving Nation
The team has published two reports, known as Report 7: Exploring Shared Māori Goals: Working towards a National Sustainable Development Strategy and Report 8: Effective Māori Representation in Parliament: Working towards a National Sustainable Development Strategy. These reports form part of a package of reports that attempt to investigate the integration of Māori interests in the formation of a National Sustainable Development Strategy. The two reports are supported by a sub-report and six working papers (listed below). Throughout this process, the team has been supported and guided by a dedicated group of external reviewers – and without their support these reports would simply not have progressed.
We accept that not everyone will agree with our conclusions; this topic is complex and therefore it is unlikely we could produce a group of reports that would be acceptable to everybody. Hence, we do not claim that this series of reports will be exhaustive or complete. Rather, it is our hope that these papers will provoke thought, debate and reflection – as in our view conversations about these ideas and issues are the very ideas and issues that will shape the future of New Zealand. Finally, thank you for taking the time to explore our thinking. We welcome your feedback, not just for improving our own knowledge, but so that we can use these insights to feed into the National Sustainable Development Strategy.
